PET Double-Sided Tape – The Invisible Backbone of Precision Bonding
Products Description

PET double-sided tape uses a polyester (PET) film carrier, coated on both sides with acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, protected by a release liner or film. The key difference from tissue tape: tissue conforms to uneven surfaces by being soft; PET maintains precision by being dimensionally stable.
It doesn't fill gaps, compress, or expand with temperature. It stays where it is, holds its shape, and maintains adhesion.
Key Characteristics
Excellent dimensional stability - no stretching, shrinking, or deformation from temperature or humidity
High shear strength - suited for bonds that resist lateral force
Multiple thickness options - 0.048mm to 0.2mm, covering precision to general bonding
Clear/black/white available - clear for invisible bonds, black for light-blocking or aesthetics
Excellent die-cutting - clean cuts, no adhesive ooze, no stringing
Three Thicknesses, Three Jobs
| Thickness | What It's For | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
| 0.048–0.06mm, Ultra-thin Type | Precision electronic assembly, bonding for minimal gaps | Mobile phone screen lamination, FPC fixation, precision component assembly |
| 0.08–0.1mm, Standard Type | General industrial bonding, balancing strength and thickness | Nameplate fixing, LCD assembly, metal component lamination |
| 0.12–0.2mm, Thickened Type | Bonding requiring micro-gap filling or cushioning | Panel bonding, decorative part fixation, multi-material assembly |

Application Areas

| Application | Specific Use |
|---|---|
| Electronics assembly | FPC bonding, LCD mounting, component fixation, screen assembly |
| Metal and plastic bonding | Nameplate mounting, metal panel bonding, plastic housing assembly |
| Automotive interior | Dashboard trim, interior nameplates, foam backing |
| Appliance manufacturing | Control panel mounting, decorative trim, component fixation |
| Display and signage | LCD module bonding, backlight fixation, touch panel assembly |
| Precision die-cutting | Custom shapes for automated placement |

F&Q
Q: Does PET tape work on curved surfaces?
A: Limited. PET is rigid and doesn't conform to curves like tissue tape. For curved or irregular surfaces, we recommend tissue or non-woven tape. PET is best for flat, smooth surfaces.
Q: How does it bond to inorganic materials like glass, ceramic, and concrete?
A: Good adhesion to glass and ceramic, especially with high-tack formulations. For porous, rough surfaces like concrete, PET cannot conform, resulting in insufficient contact area and significantly reduced bond strength. For such surfaces, tissue or foam double-sided tape is recommended.
Q: Long-term 100–125°C - is that continuous or intermittent exposure?
A: Long-term temperature refers to continuous exposure. Short-term (150–200°C) refers to intermittent exposure up to 30–60 minutes. Above the long-term limit, the adhesive gradually softens, creeps, and loses holding power. If your process involves continuous high temperature, inform us and we will recommend a higher grade.
