Printer Tips for Matte vs. Gloss Surfaces
01. Gloss Labels
Gloss paper has a dense coating with high reflectivity and extremely vibrant colors.
✅ Best For: Laser Printers
Performance: Laser printers use high heat to fuse toner onto the paper. The gloss coating withstands this heat, resulting in highly saturated and vibrant colors, especially when printing high-definition color images, brand logos, and product promotional graphics. The effect is far superior to matte.
Note: Toner adhesion on gloss coating is slightly lower than on matte. Heavy scratching after printing may cause flaking. We recommend letting it sit for 1 minute to cool and cure completely.
❌ Not Recommended For: Standard Inkjet Printers
Pain Point: Inkjet ink is water-based, and standard gloss coatings are not water-absorbent. The ink floats on the surface, smudges at a touch, or even runs.
Solution: If you must use an inkjet printer for gloss labels, you must choose "Micro-porous Gloss". This material is designed specifically for inkjet, instantly absorbing ink into micro-pores for a quick dry.
02. Matte Labels
Matte paper has no reflection and microscopic pores with excellent ink absorption, making it perfect for writing.

For Laser Printers: Matte paper is heat-resistant, and toner adheres extremely firmly. Black text, barcodes, and shipping labels print with sharp edges that won't flake off. It is the best choice for logistics labels.
For Inkjet Printers: Matte absorbs ink quickly and prints general color graphics well. However, if you print large areas of dark or solid colors, the paper may wrinkle due to excessive ink absorption.
For Handwriting: Matte is the perfect partner for ballpoint pens, gel pens, and markers, without any ink bleeding.
