Q: Can PMMA (Acrylic) be used for membrane switches?
A: PMMA is usually supplied as a rigid sheet (1mm+ thickness) rather than a thin film. It is too brittle to be embossed for tactile domes. It is primarily used for flat, high-end faceplates or display windows, not for flexible membrane switches.
Q: What is the difference between PC and PET for silk screen panels?
A: PC (Polycarbonate) is highly impact-resistant, offers better clarity, and is easier to emboss for tactile buttons. It is the industry standard for most control panels. PET (Polyester) is thinner, has higher temperature resistance, and superior chemical resistance, making it ideal for harsh environments or very thin membrane switches.
Q:Does PC really yellow over time?
A: Raw PC is susceptible to UV degradation and can yellow if exposed to direct sunlight for years. To mitigate this, we offer UV-stabilized PC films or can apply a UV-resistant hard coat. If your panel will be outdoors, we recommend PET or PMMA.
